Cambridge University Photography Society (CUPS)
Established in 2025, CUPS aims to foster a creative and inclusive community for all University of Cambridge students interested in photography, whether using professional cameras or mobile phones.
What We Do
The society will host a range of engaging activities, including themed photo contests and exhibitions celebrating members’ work, hands-on workshops developing both technical and artistic skills such as composition, exposure control, mobile photography, night and landscape techniques, and post-processing, as well as regular photowalks around Cambridge and nearby scenic locations.(Cover photo by Society President Xingkai Wang)

Celebrate the festive season through your lens with the CUPS Christmas Photo Contest!This university-wide competition invites students of all experience levels, whether you shoot with a phone, compact camera, or professional gear to capture the magic of Christmas in Cambridge.Participants are encouraged to submit their most creative, meaningful, or visually striking holiday-themed photographs. From sparkling lights on historic colleges to cosy winter scenes, portrait moments, or abstract interpretations of the season, all styles are welcome.Winners will be announced during our Society Launch event next week (Time and Venue TBD), with photography-related prizes awarded across multiple tiers.1st Place: DJI OSMO Mobile SE Smartphone Gimbal (£50)
2nd Place: Smallrig Portable RGB Video Light (£30)
3rd Place: Kodak Single Use FunSaver Camera With Flash (£20)To ensure fairness and integrity, all submissions will be reviewed by a panel of CUPS committee members, who will assess entries based on creativity, composition, storytelling, and overall visual impact.
